Empress Smooth (Neurotoxins)
Empress Smooth is our signature neurotoxin treatment designed to soften fine lines and support a more refreshed, rested appearance while preserving natural facial expression. Treatment options may include Jeuveau or Botox, depending on patient needs, treatment goals, and clinical assessment.
How it Works: The Empress Smooth
Neurotoxins are purified botulinum toxin type A products that temporarily reduce muscle activity in targeted areas responsible for dynamic facial lines. These are the wrinkles that form from repetitive facial expression, commonly including the forehead, glabellar lines (“11s”), crow’s feet, and, in some cases, areas such as the brow, masseters, chin, or platysmal bands. By reducing repetitive muscle contraction, neurotoxins help soften the appearance of existing dynamic lines and may also help prevent them from becoming more deeply etched over time.
The goal of treatment is to achieve a softer, smoother, and more balanced appearance without compromising facial harmony or natural movement. Each treatment plan is individualized based on facial anatomy, muscle strength, symmetry, and the patient’s aesthetic goals.
What to Expect for Your Empress Smooth Appointment
Appointments typically take approximately 30 to 45 minutes and begin with a comprehensive consultation and facial assessment. During this evaluation, facial anatomy, muscle movement patterns, baseline asymmetries, and treatment goals are reviewed in order to develop a personalized injection plan.
Treatment is performed using a precise injection technique with ultra-fine needles to improve comfort and accuracy. Most patients describe the injections as brief and well tolerated, often feeling like a small pinch. Small, targeted doses are placed into specific muscles to soften dynamic lines while maintaining a natural, expressive appearance.
FAQs
How much treatment will I need?
The amount of neurotoxin required varies based on individual factors including facial anatomy, muscle strength, treatment areas, and desired outcomes. Dosing is measured in units and is customized for each patient. During your consultation, a detailed facial assessment will be performed to determine the appropriate number of units needed to achieve a balanced, natural-looking result. Patients seeking more subtle softening may require fewer units, while those with stronger muscle activity or deeper lines may require higher dosing for optimal results.
Does it hurt?
Neurotoxin injections are generally well tolerated. A very fine needle is used to deliver small amounts of product into targeted muscles. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch or mild discomfort lasting only a few seconds. No anesthesia is typically required, although comfort measures can be provided if needed.
What's the Downtime?
Neurotoxin treatments involve minimal to no downtime. Patients can typically return to normal daily activities immediately following the procedure. Mild redness, swelling, or small injection site marks may be present and usually resolve within a few hours.
How long do results last?
Results typically begin to appear within 3 to 5 days, with full effect visible at approximately 10 to 14 days post-treatment. The duration of results varies by individual but generally lasts 3 to 4 months. With consistent treatments, some patients may notice prolonged duration due to muscle conditioning over time.
Are Jeuveau and Botox the same?
Both Botox and Jeuveau are botulinum toxin type A products used to treat dynamic wrinkles by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles. While they function similarly and have comparable safety profiles, they are manufactured by different companies and may have slight differences in formulation, onset, and patient response. Product selection is based on clinical judgment, patient preference, and treatment goals.
Are there any side effects?
Neurotoxin injections are considered safe when performed by a qualified provider. Common side effects include mild redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These effects are typically temporary and resolve within a few days. Less common risks may include headache, temporary asymmetry, eyelid or brow ptosis, or unintended muscle relaxation in adjacent areas. A thorough consultation and precise injection technique help minimize these risks.
Before my Neurotoxin Appointment
Prior to treatment, patients should disclose all medical history, medications, supplements, allergies, and any prior neurotoxin treatments. To reduce the risk of bruising, patients are generally advised to avoid alcohol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, and other blood-thinning agents for 3 to 5 days before treatment, unless medically necessary and prescribed. Patients should also avoid scheduling treatment if they have an active infection, skin irritation, or are feeling unwell.
After my Neurotoxin Appointment?
Following treatment, patients should remain upright for at least 4 hours and avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas for 24 hours to prevent product migration. Strenuous exercise, alcohol consumption, excessive heat (such as saunas or hot yoga), and facials should be avoided for the remainder of the day. Patients may be advised to gently contract treated muscles periodically for the first few hours. Full post-care instructions will be provided to support optimal results and minimize complications.
