Empress Drips (IV Therapy)
Intravenous nutrient therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive tract so absorption is complete and immediate. At The Empress LA, each formulation is selected during your consultation based on your medical history, hydration status, and treatment goals.
Empress Elixir – For Hydration & Recovery
A balanced infusion of fluids, B-complex and vitamin C, essential minerals, and antioxidants. Used to correct dehydration and replete nutrients commonly depleted by illness, travel, poor sleep, or physical stress.
Empress After the Afters – For Rehydration & Recovery
Formulated for recovery after alcohol intake or significant dehydration. Replaces fluids and electrolytes, supplies the B vitamins depleted by alcohol metabolism, and includes anti-nausea and anti-inflammatory support.
Empress Skinny Drip – For Metabolic Support
Contains lipotropic compounds (methionine, inositol, choline) with B-complex to support fat metabolism and energy production. Intended as an adjunct to a medical weight management plan, not a standalone weight loss treatment.
HOW IV THERAPY WORKS
Intravenous therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients directly into the bloodstream. Because the infusion bypasses the digestive tract, absorption is complete and immediate. Oral supplements are only partially absorbed in the gut, and absorption is further reduced by inflammation, certain medications, and gastrointestinal conditions.
Once in circulation, these nutrients are available to correct documented deficiencies, restore fluid and electrolyte balance, and support immune function, energy metabolism, and tissue repair. IV therapy is used for dehydration, recovery after illness or alcohol intake, periods of physical stress, and as an adjunct to a medical weight management plan.
Your formulation is selected during consultation based on your medical history, current medications, and treatment goals. IV therapy supports overall health and is not a substitute for evaluation of an underlying medical condition.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your appointment begins with a brief clinical check-in to review your medical history, current medications, hydration status, and how you are feeling that day. Your formulation is then prepared.
Placing the IV catheter takes a moment and feels like a brief pinch. The infusion runs approximately 30 to 60 minutes depending on the formulation. You will be seated comfortably and monitored throughout. Most patients read, rest, or work quietly during the session.
Some patients notice improved energy or mental clarity before the infusion is complete; for others the effect develops over the following day. There is no downtime, and you may return to normal activity immediately.
FAQs
How much treatment will I need?
Treatment frequency depends on your goals and your clinical picture, and is confirmed at consultation. For general wellness and maintenance, one session every two to four weeks is typical. During recovery from illness, significant fatigue, travel, or high physical demand, weekly sessions may be recommended until your energy and hydration status stabilize.
For Empress Skinny Drip, weekly sessions are recommended during active treatment and are most effective alongside a medical weight management plan. For immune support or skin-focused formulations, every three to four weeks is generally sufficient.
Does it hurt?
Most patients tolerate the procedure well. You will feel a brief pinch as the IV catheter is placed, comparable to a routine blood draw. Once the catheter is in place the infusion itself is not painful; some patients notice a cool sensation along the arm as the fluid runs.
If you have a history of difficult IV access, fainting during blood draws, or needle anxiety, tell us before your appointment so we can position you appropriately and take additional precautions.
What's the Downtime?
There is no downtime. You may drive, return to work, and resume normal activity immediately after your appointment.
A small number of patients feel briefly lightheaded when standing after the infusion, particularly if they arrived dehydrated or had not eaten. We ask that you remain seated for a few minutes before leaving. Mild bruising or tenderness at the catheter site is common and resolves within a few days.
How long do results last?
Most patients notice an effect for approximately three to ten days. The range depends on how depleted you were at baseline, your hydration and sleep, stress levels, activity, and any underlying medical conditions.
Hydration and fluid balance improve immediately. Nutrient repletion is more gradual: if you are correcting a genuine deficiency, the benefit builds over a series of sessions rather than after a single infusion. For that reason we generally recommend a schedule rather than isolated treatments.
Are there any side effects?
IV therapy is generally well tolerated, but side effects are possible. The most common are mild and short-lived: bruising, tenderness, or swelling at the catheter site, and a cool sensation along the arm during the infusion. Some patients feel briefly lightheaded or flushed, particularly if dehydrated or if they have not eaten beforehand.
Less common risks include phlebitis, infiltration if the catheter moves out of the vein, and rarely infection at the insertion site. Certain formulations are not appropriate for patients with kidney disease, heart failure, or specific electrolyte disorders, which is why a medical history is required before treatment.
You are monitored throughout your session. Tell your provider immediately if you experience chest tightness, difficulty breathing, itching, rash, or pain at the IV site during the infusion.
Preparing for your Empress IV Therapy Appointment
To receive your drip with grace and ease, arrive nourished and hydrated drink plenty of water the day before and the morning of your appointment to support smooth IV placement and absorption. Eat a light meal within a few hours before your session to keep your blood sugar stable and help your body receive the nutrients fully. Wear comfortable clothing with sleeves that can roll up easily, and bring any questions or concerns you may have — this is your time to be supported. If it’s your first visit, allow space to settle in and co-create your blend with me based on your current energy, needs, and goals.
You’re not just prepping your body you’re opening your vessel to receive.
After your Empress IV Therapy Appointment
Drink water steadily over the next 24 hours. Intravenous fluids correct hydration quickly, but maintaining it afterward is what sustains the benefit.
Keep the bandage on for at least an hour. If you notice bruising at the catheter site, a cool compress for 10 to 15 minutes helps; bruising typically resolves within a few days. Avoid heavy lifting with that arm for the rest of the day.
Limit alcohol for 24 hours, since it works against the rehydration you just received. Eat a normal meal and rest if you feel tired.
Contact us if you develop increasing pain, redness, warmth, or swelling at the IV site, or a fever, as these can indicate infection and should be evaluated.
